Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. – Robert Louis Stevenson
In these days of drive-thru food, instant streaming, Amazon Prime Now, and a world of information in our palm, we often focus on the harvest. We want to see results NOW.
I am often tempted to judge my day by the items that were checked off of my list. But what about those more important things that don’t make it onto my list? I plan to take Stevenson’s words to heart and give more thought – and more importance – to the seeds that I plant each day.
If we want the fruits of good relationships, healthy bodies, and stable finances, we must take the time to plant today that fruit we want to harvest in the future.
What seeds will you plant today?
- Seeds of kindness in word or deed?
- Seeds of grace in overlooking an offense?
- Seeds of forgiveness that put the past to rest and allow you to move forward?
- Seeds of time spent encouraging someone?
- Seeds of stewardship of our bodies, our homes, or our gifts?
What seeds will you plant today that may grow into a fruitful harvest in the future?
